Stagecoach roofs, from Wagon Wheel to Silver Spur
Stagecoach came by its name honestly: it was a stop on a 19th-century stagecoach route. The streets still say so, with names like Wagon Wheel, Old Coach and Silver Spur, and 580 people live around two small lakes on Sulphur Creek.
Working in Stagecoach
The land that became Stagecoach was a farm owned by W. L. Swinley. The residential development was established in 1958, and by 1980, the year the town incorporated, it had 108 residences. The 2020 census counted 580 people. Lake Apache and Lake Hardin, two artificial lakes along Sulphur Creek, sit in town. Street names such as Wagon Wheel, Old Coach and Silver Spur keep the history in plain sight. Magnolia, Tomball, Todd Mission and Cypress are the nearest places on our map, and Cypress is where we are based.
Stagecoach is an incorporated town, and building work inside its limits answers to the Town of Stagecoach. Its school lines are split: about half of residents are zoned to the Magnolia Independent School District and the southern half to Tomball ISD. For a roof or a remodel, the line that matters is the town limit, and we check it from your lot before filing anything. Outside the limit, there is no town review, though county and state rules on septic or a new driveway can still apply to a new structure. Two school districts and one small town limit make addresses easy to misread, which is exactly why we check the lot itself.
If your house faces one of the lakes, the back of it may matter as much as the front. Decks and porches facing water stay damp longer, and wood framing there tends to rot first at the ledger and the post bases. We probe those spots on any lakeside job and tell you what we find before anyone talks about new boards. A deck that looks fine on top can be soft underneath, and the ledger is the one part that, when it fails, takes the whole deck with it. That is a conversation worth having before guests are standing on it.
With Magnolia and Tomball for neighbors, Stagecoach gets the same spring hail, summer thunderstorms and Gulf season as everywhere around it. Hail usually comes in at an angle, so the slopes facing the storm take the worst of it, and those may be the ones you cannot see from the yard. Long humid summers add algae streaks on the north side, which are mostly cosmetic until the granules underneath start to go. We check every slope, including the hidden ones, and photograph each so you can see the whole roof from your kitchen table.
The jobs that come up here
Roof replacement is the job when the shingles are worn out across the roof, and hail damage roof replacement is the job when a spring storm did the damage in one afternoon. The first is about age. The second is about documentation, because your carrier will want photos of strikes on the shingles, vents and gutters before anything is torn off. We tell you which one you have, and if it is neither, you keep your roof and our photos. Being one of the closest towns to our Cypress base means the inspection is rarely a long wait. If hail hit only one or two slopes, we tell you whether a partial repair makes sense or whether the old shingles no longer match closely enough for it to work.
Composite deck installation fits a new deck facing one of the lakes. Composite boards do not splinter, rot or need sealing every year, and with hidden fasteners and a properly flashed ledger, the frame underneath stays dry longer. Bathroom remodeling covers the inside job: a tub-to-shower conversion or a reworked layout when the room no longer works. Rustic barndominiums suit an owner with land nearby who wants exposed beams, wood tones and a wide porch on a steel frame. Each gets a written scope, and each starts with a walk through your property, never a guess from the street. A lakeside deck also deserves its railings and lighting planned with it, so the view stays open and the steps are visible at night.
- Bathroom remodeling A remodel changes the bathroom’s layout: the corner garden tub comes out for a walk-in shower, the toilet moves to its own room, a wall shifts to borrow space from a closet.
- Composite deck installation Composite decking trades yearly sealing for a higher upfront price and a few rules of its own.
- Hail damage roof replacement Hail damage on a shingle is a bruise in the mat, soft when you press it, usually with the granules knocked off in a rough circle.

Plenty of roofs we look at need a repair or nothing at all. If that is yours, you will hear it from us first.
Can you build a composite deck on the lake side of a Stagecoach house?
Yes. We set footings, use treated framing with a flashed ledger and finish with composite boards that handle damp and sun. Before we design it, we check what the Town of Stagecoach requires for a deck near the water. The ledger flashing is the one detail we refuse to skip, since that is where lakeside decks rot first.
Why are the streets in Stagecoach named Wagon Wheel and Silver Spur?
The town was a stop on a 19th-century stagecoach route, and the street names reflect that history. The residential development itself dates to 1958, on land that had been W. L. Swinley’s farm. By 1980, the year the town incorporated, it had 108 residences.
Which slopes do you check after hail?
All of them. Hail usually comes in at an angle, so the slopes facing the storm take the worst of it, and those may be the ones you cannot see from the street. We also photograph the soft metal on vents and gutters, which dents easily and shows the size of the stones. You get every photo, labeled by slope.
Is Stagecoach close enough to Cypress for a quick visit?
Yes. Cypress is our base, and Stagecoach is one of the nearest towns on our map. That usually means a shorter wait for an inspection, though storm calls are still scheduled by how bad the damage is. Being nearby also makes a follow-up visit easy when a question comes up mid-job.
What makes a barndominium rustic?
Wood tones, exposed beams or trusses, a wide covered porch, metal or board siding and a simple roofline. The structure underneath is still steel or post-frame. We plan the finishes early so the framing can carry the beams and the porch loads. Deep eaves and a long porch keep the summer sun off the walls, which is half the reason a rustic plan works in this heat.
