Built with honor. Made to endure.
Veteran-owned roofing and construction across Greater Houston. Built on discipline, craftsmanship and a commitment to doing the job right, including telling you when your roof does not need us yet.
Straight answers. Lasting results.
Two veterans.
One standard.
Veteran Built started in 2024 on the values that carried both owners through their service: integrity, discipline, accountability and doing the job right.
The company is service-disabled veteran owned, verified by the Texas Veterans Commission, and part of the mission is hiring other veterans. Leland or Geoff walks every job with you before anything starts, and the person who wrote your scope answers the phone.
Meet the founders
Leland A. Cannon
Founder and owner. First Sergeant, retired. South Korea, two deployments to Iraq, one to Afghanistan, then Army recruiting in Houston.
Bronze Star Medal. Meritorious Service Medal.
Geoff Schardien
Owner and COO. Security Forces airman at Malmstrom Air Force Base, then more than twenty years in residential construction. He runs the job sites.
More than
roofing.
From residential roofs to whole-house remodels, barndominiums and commercial spaces, every job gets the same inspection, the same written scope and the same crew standard. Each service page says how we do the work and when you should not hire us for it.
- 01 /Roofing
Shingle, Class 4, metal, flat and TPO roofs, new or replaced, plus storm, hail and wind damage written up honestly. Most of the photos on this site are re-roofs on Houston brick ranches.
- 02 /Remodeling
Kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and whole houses. We tell you up front which walls can move, what the plumbing will allow and where the money does the most good.
- 04 /Sunrooms
Built so they are usable in August, which in Houston comes down to glass, shade and air.
- 05 /Decks
Pressure-treated or composite, framed for humidity and termites, cleared with your HOA first.
- 06 /Commercial
Offices, retail, restaurants, medical offices and multifamily, phased around the people still working there.
- 07 /Accessibility
Geoff has spent years on ADA modifications for veterans: roll-in showers, wider doors, grab bars set into blocking, vanities you can pull a chair under.

The right answer.
Not the most expensive one.
No sales script. We walk every slope, go into the attic and photograph what we find, and the roof’s condition decides the answer. If we find hail or wind damage, we document it the way an adjuster will want to see it, and you decide whether to call your carrier.
Replace
When the decking is soft, the shingles are worn out across the whole roof, or repairs have stopped holding. Patching a roof like that is money you will spend again next spring.
Repair
When the trouble is in one spot: a cracked pipe boot, a bad piece of flashing, a slope that took a beating from one limb. We fix that spot and show you the photos. It is the answer we give most.
Leave it
When the roof still has life in it: some granule wear, a stain from a leak that was fixed years ago. We tell you so, write down what to watch for, and you keep your money.
Real homes.
Real results.
Jobs across Greater Houston: roofs, patio covers and remodels, photographed on site by the crew that did the work. No stock photos, ever.

Precision at
every stage.
- 01 / Assess
We walk it with you
Leland or Geoff walks the roof, the attic or the room with you, measures, and photographs what they find. You see the same pictures we do.
- 02 / Plan
A written scope
Materials, decking allowance, colors and any HOA approval, written down with one price. Nothing starts until you say so.
- 03 / Execute
One crew, one phone number
The work runs in order, the house is never left open to an afternoon storm, and the site gets cleaned every day.
- 04 / Deliver
The final walk
We walk the finished job together, run a magnet over the yard for nails, and hand you the photos and paperwork.
Trust is earned.

Twelve counties.
One commitment.
We work about fifty miles out from Cypress, from the bay to the pines. Pick your county for the towns we cover and what we watch for there: hail and clay to the west, salt air and hurricane season down by the bay, tall pines over the roofline up in Montgomery County.
All 146 towns are on the service areas page.

“If the roof needs a replacement, I’ll say it. If it doesn’t, I won’t.”
Leland Cannon, founder
Will you actually tell me if I do not need a new roof?
Yes. Leland built the company on that. If a pipe boot failed or a few shingles lifted in the last storm, you get a repair and a photo of what we fixed. If the roof has years left, we tell you that and go home.
Do you only do roofing?
No. Roofing is a big part of the work, but we also remodel kitchens, bathrooms and whole houses, build barndominiums, decks and sunrooms, and handle commercial remodels and build-outs.
Can you help with an insurance claim after hail or wind?
We inspect, photograph and write up what we find, and we will meet your adjuster on the roof if you want us there. What your policy pays is between you and your carrier. We will not promise a claim outcome, and we will not tell you to file for damage that is not there.
Do you offer a military discount?
Military and first responders take 10% off. Tell us when you call, and bring whatever ID you are comfortable showing.
Is financing available?
Yes, through Acorn Finance. It is a no-obligation prequalification, so you can see your options before you commit to anything.
Where are you based, and how far do you go?
We are in Cypress, in northwest Harris County, and we work about fifty miles out from Houston across twelve counties. If you are near the edge of that, call and ask.
Who will actually be at my house?
Leland or Geoff walks the job with you before anything starts, and you have one phone number for the whole project.

Your home. Our word.
Straight answers, skilled craftsmanship, and a commitment to getting it right.
Tell Leland what you are seeing: a stain on the ceiling, shingles in the yard, a kitchen you have hated since you moved in. He will set a time to come look, and you get a written scope you can hold him to. Military and first responders take 10% off, and financing is available through Acorn Finance.
